 The Hillary Step started in 1998, with Brad Hodgson on guitar and vocals, Brian Frisbie on bass, and Danny Mac on drums. Our sound is very broad... quiet, moody, melodic, and hardcore. We focus on making music that drives us, like any hopeful rock star might say, but every offbeat, every note hit has to be perfect. It has to tell a story. Our goal is to play music for everyone that will listen... to write music that moves us for the rest of our lives. Nothing is more important. Some influences? Well, there are so many, and so many great bands, but some that really have an effect on us are June of 44, Sunny Day Real Estate, Karate, A Minor Forest, Braid, Rex and so much more, but we'll spare you the time in reading them all. Music is such an important factor in everyones life, and the whole story behind The Hillary Step is to turn everyone on we can to what were trying to do, because we believe so strongly in the music other bands are doing and what we are doing. The band released a 4 song demo in Janurary of 1999 titled "Asleep Before the End", and will release their first full-length CD, "The Second Time Means Nothing", in November of 1999 on URININE records.
