Sound Transmission - "First Construction" Album review by Cindy Gonzalez
In "First Construction", Sound Transmission presents an array of somewhat mellow tunes with enough flare to keep you listening, accompanied by almost poetic, melancholy lyrics. Hypnotic enough to get your attention, the album begins with “First Construction” and slowly fades into “April Sky”, which contains a repetitive mellow feel throughout the song. Songs worth listening to include “Under The Sun”, “ Suppressed”, and, “Feeling Lucky” -- these songs add a slight flare to the album and keep it from being a little dry. The album also includes a couple of instrumental songs, such as “Reckless Abandon”, which contains an edgier beat than some of the other songs found on the album, and “Falling From The Face of Reality”, which goes back to a softer sound with an interesting introduction, not as edgy but quite pleasant. I personally wouldn’t mind hearing a stronger vocal presence throughout the album. Sound Transmission members include Jeff Teel and Andy Matlock, who share mic duties as lead and backing vocals along with their bass and guitar playing. Aaron Olewnik (percussion) and Ryan Gedney (synthesizers/keyboards) also contribute their talent to this album. If you're into new-age music and a little sound experimentation, then checking out Sound Transmission’s “First Construction” would likely be worth your while. This album may not be for all, but if you're interested in something a little different, then “First Construction” will probably suit you.
