Nairobi Trio
The multi-instrumental talents of Nairobi Trio may have played together in various forms over the last decade, but their latest incarnation may be the sweetest. Melding post-punk, driven hardcore with structured textural grace they've created their first EP "Accusatory Anthems". The influences know no boundary; hardcore to DIY to folk to hair metal have birthed this experimental group that is sure to become a staple in the KC scene. For more info and some great downloads, be sure to check out their official site: http://www.nairobitrio.com/.

Tabla Rasa
Tabla Rasa's novel blend of earthy instrumentation and folky groove music make it a standout act throughout the region. Started in 1997, this eclectic five piece has a growing fanbase and a string of upcoming shows to support it's debut Barefoot that any local band would be proud of. There's more to them than just sweaty bar shows and rock'n'roll attitude; all one would have to do is check out the links on their official website (http://www.tablarasa.com/) to see that there's more to this band than meets the eye.

Flatland with Stephanie Hewett
If you're expecting some girlie folk music, you've come to the wrong place! Formerly known as The Stephanie Hewett Band and Steph and the Reasons, this band does feature acoustic staple and Klammie nominee Stephanie Hewett and her gutsy, volatile performance, but that's not all. By fall we will see a debut release ("Laughing Water") and soon we will be treated to the official homepage of what will surely become one of the dominant bands of the roots rock tradition in Kansas City. In the meantime, you can find more information on Steph on her Zone band page.
